US Foods Inc. has selected the FourKites real-time load tracking platform to help modernize its logistics operations and track shipments in its refrigerated supply chain.
Rosemont, Ill.-based US Foods will use the real-time location information and the estimated times of arrival (ETAs) of every truck carrying its products to enable its customer service team to manage exceptions and provide answers without making calls to dispatchers or drivers.
In coming months, US Foods also plans to roll out the FourKites platform beyond the logistics customer service team, to add coverage of sales, warehouse operations, and other internal teams. The company intends to reduce redundancies and streamline operations by compiling all its supply chain visibility data on the same page.
"We are impressed with FourKites' ability to work with carriers of every size and integrate with in-cab electronic logging devices (ELDs) and driver cell phones. It was important for us to partner with a technology provider trusted by our carrier and broker network," Ray Kredell, vice president of operations at US Foods, said in a release.
