BAX Global Inc., a worldwide supply chain and transportation solutions provider, was recently honored as the "Best Belgium Transport Company for 2004" by the Organisation of Traffic Managers in Belgium. This group of 236 shippers voted on candidates covering third-party logistics providers and several modes of transport, including air, sea, road and rail. The candidates were rated on customer service, driver politeness, invoicing accuracy, service response time, price, product quality and available customer service-driven solutions.
What's next—an Oscar? DHL Same Day has received the Vendor of the Year award from Technicolor Cinema Distribution, one of the nation's leading distributors of theatrical film prints. DHL was honored for demonstrating outstanding delivery service performance throughout 2004. The company was also honored for its detailed communications processes, which assure the smooth delivery of critical film shipments.
Carry on. Philips Electronics North America has honored Averitt Express with its Carrier Recognition Award for North American Road Transport. Averitt provides freight transportation and supply chain management services. Philips annually presents the award to recognize its top carrier based on feedback from its vendors on such factors as on-time service, number of freight claims and overall customer service.
Easy Ryder. General Motors has named Ryder System Inc. as a Supplier of the Year for its performance in providing GM with parts and services. The transportation and supply chain management company was recognized for contributing to GM's quality reputation and success globally. A worldwide team of GM executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics chooses the awardees based on their performance with respect to quality, service, technology and price.
In other awards news, GM also recognized Ryder System as one of its top suppliers in Brazil. GM presented Ryder with a Merit Certificate for providing quality logistics solutions and customer service excellence. GM awards Merit Certificates to suppliers that make significant contributions in key areas, including technology, value, quality and the overall relationship.
Fly like an eagle. Supply chain consultant Clifford F. Lynch, president of Memphis-based C.F. Lynch & Associates, has been awarded the Eagle Award from Operation Stimulus of Denver. Operation Stimulus is an annual transportation forum sponsored by BNSF, the Denver Transportation Club, the University of Denver Intermodal Institute, CSCMP and others. The Eagle Award is presented each year to honor a company or professional for excellence in transportation and logistics education, advocacy and leadership. Previous winners include Coors Brewing, UPS, Union Pacific Railroad and Gates Rubber. Lynch is the first individual to receive the award.
