ALK Technologies has released a new version of CoPilot Truck, its truck-specific GPS navigation app for professional drivers. This new version brings the latest truck-specific, turn-by-turn guidance and routing technology to iPhones, iPads, Android-powered devices, laptops, and Windows Mobile rugged devices, says ALK.
CoPilot Truck is designed to provide a link between the planned route in the back office and the navigated route in the truck cab. The new version combines user-friendly features like drag-and-drop route adjustment with the industry-standard PC*MILER routing that professional drivers are billed on, says the company. CoPilot Truck also provides a choice of up to three alternate routes to a destination.
Drivers input their vehicle dimensions for height, length, weight/axel weight, and the application then calculates the optimal truck route that is both safe and legal, to avoid costly fines and vehicle damage.
CoPilot Truck stores ALK Maps of North America on users' smartphones or tablets so that they can be used even when the device is not online. This prevents drivers from burning through their mobile data plan or becoming stranded without maps if they lose cell coverage, says the company.
The new version of CoPilot Truck can be purchased for $149.99 through the iTunes App Store, Google Play, and at www.copilotlive.com/truck.
