Supplier PO Management

November 1, 2008
No Comments

Seko, a company that provides transportation, logistics, and IT solutions, has introduced its new global vendor purchase order (PO) management software tool. Supplier PO Management provides end-to-end visibility of purchase orders from the vendor to the warehouse and all the way through to delivery. The system records and preserves all PO entries and changes, displaying the original entries, current status, changes made, who made the changes, and when. The tool eliminates the possibility of losing or misplacing purchase orders and the time wasted on complicated spreadsheets and continuous follow-ups.

Seko's Supplier PO Management is fully Web-based and integrated into Seko's online customer shipment management suite of applications, MySeko. It is a global system and offers various user-friendly features, including a fully integrated messaging system, a streamlined interface with drop-down menus, and point-and-click operation. It also can break down purchase orders into detailed, individual lines and issue summary reports that provide a snapshot of all activity. In addition, customers can run metrics on their vendors and quickly obtain performance reviews.

If a single PO turns into multiple shipments, those line items can also be tracked, including information such as the cost per item, exact time when shipments left the factory, and milestones reached.

In the logistics industry, the task of quantifying cost increases from parcel and LTL carriers is becoming more complicated. We don’t expect this trend to end anytime soon, as these companies look for ways to use greater precision in their pricing by drawing on the greater amount of data available.
