Sometimes you just want to learn the fundamentals; sometimes you want a little more. Either way, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) has a program that might interest you. If you just want the basics, the group will be holding its "Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management" workshops in several locations throughout North America in 2007. And if you want more, CSCMP is introducing its "Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management II" workshops, a more advanced program with a more strategic focus than the initial series.
The "Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management" workshops are conducted by long-time CSCMP members Kenneth B. Ackerman of the K.B. Ackerman Co. and Art Van Bodegraven of The Progress Group LLC. (Ackerman and Van Bodegraven are also authors of DC VELOCITY's BasicTraining column.) The sessions are designed for professionals just entering the supply chain field and for those who wish to broaden their understanding of the various functions and how these functions fit under the supply chain management umbrella.
Ackerman and Van Bodegraven will also conduct the "Fundamentals of Supply Chain Management II" programs. Topics covered in these workshops include tactical and strategic components to supply chain management issues; solutions in security; performance management; cost reduction; strategy; and health, safety and ergonomics.
The dates for the 2007 workshops are:
