Managers hoping to get in a little classroom time this winter can choose from programs offered in Wisconsin or Tennessee. Those undaunted by the prospect of chilly weather can register for one—or both—of two back-to-back programs on transportation management offered next month by the University of Wisconsin Business School's executive education program in Madison. The first, "Import/Export Documentation and Traffic," scheduled for Dec. 5 and 6, is designed to help students identify ways to streamline import/export order processing, move international freight quickly and efficiently, understand the impact of NAFTA and other regional free-trade agreements, and comply with government regulations.
The second course, "Transportation Claims Management and Prevention," offers practical insights into claims management. Scheduled for Dec. 7 and 8, the course will take up topics like how to process freight claims, legal issues surrounding domestic claims, the basics of dealing with international claims, and risk management practices.
The fee for each course is $1,095. For more information, visit www.uwexeced.com/supply chain.
For those who prefer a more southerly venue, the Center for Executive Education at the University of Tennessee will host a pair of supply chain management courses in mid-January at its Knoxville campus. The first, "Supply Chain Management Strategy," on Jan 16-18, looks at supply chain management from a strategic perspective. The class will provide an overview of supply chain challenges and opportunities, including demand management, forecasting and planning, globalization and strategic sourcing.
The second course, "Demand Management for the Supply Chain," on Jan. 18-20, focuses on how the demand side of the value chain (i.e., sales, marketing and downstream channel partners) can interface with the supply side of the enterprise (i.e., operations, logistics, purchasing and upstream supply partners).
The fee for each course is $2,950 ($2,850 for members of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals). For more information, visit http://thecenter.utk.edu.
