8-Series lift trucks

March 1, 2007
No Comments

Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU) offers its new 8-Series lift trucks. The line includes 3,000- to 6,500-pound internal combustion models with cushion or pneumatic tires. The lift trucks are environmentally friendly, far exceeding 2007 federal EPA emission standards as well as California's 2010 emission standards. Toyota's 4Y engine features an exclusive closed-loop fuel system design that automatically adjusts and optimizes the air-fuel mixture ratio. This system works in conjunction with a three-way catalytic muffler, together minimizing emissions such as hydrocarbons (HC), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), and carbon monoxide (CO). As a result, all Toyota 8-Series gasoline, LPG and CNG configured models produce 70 percent less smog-forming emissions than the 2007 federal EPA standards.

The vehicles also offer advances in durability, ergonomics and overall cost of operation. The fully redesigned chassis features a significant reduction in cosmetic sheet metal and plastic. This combined with a durable engine hood and stamped steel side panels allows the 8-Series to withstand the harshest working environments.

Emphasis on improving reliability and maximizing uptime was a key focus in the design. The new model lineup features an electrical system that incorporates weatherproof connectors and a sealed box. An improved cooling system layout provides optimal airflow through the radiator and counterweight, further reducing the likelihood of overheating and extending the overall life of critical engine and hydraulic system components.

In addition, the new designs have increased operator comfort, including improvements in floor space and overall leg room. A larger entry step and a curvilinear overhead guard significantly reduce the operator's effort during entry and exit. Non-cinching seat belts have also been integrated for operators' comfort as standard equipment on the 8-Series. The smaller steering wheel requires less effort and in turn reduces operator shoulder strain.

All of the 8-Series lift trucks sold in North America are produced at the company's manufacturing facility in Columbus, Ind.
