From Sept. 12 to 16, The Logistics Institute (TLI) at the Georgia Institute of Technology will offer what it calls its "Warehousing Short Course." Though it's called a "short course," there's nothing short about the list of topics to be covered—a roster that includes paperless warehousing, bar coding, benchmarking, radio frequency, cross docking and work measurement, third-party warehousing, returns, wares house layout, vehicle alternatives, order pick ing, pallet storage and retrieval, receiving and supply, case picking, slotting, sorting systems and international distribution.
For those who just can't get enough warehouse-related education, the TLI will offer a second warehouse course, "World-Class Warehousing and Material Handling," later in the fall. This course, which will be held Nov. 1-4, is designed to equip students to develop a warehouse master plan to support the corporation's overall logistics strategy. Topics include the role of the warehouse in the supply chain, warehouse performance analysis, warehouse layout and workforce design.
The "Warehousing Short Course" will take place at the Georgia Tech Global Learning and Conference Center in Atlanta. The tuition for the five-day program is $2,780, with discounts available for TLI sponsors and alumni. "World-Class Warehousing and Material Handling," which will be held at the same locale, costs $3,550, again with some discounts available.
