IEPC, a manufacturer of lighting controls, announces two new models: VB400 and Vari-Ballast Control (VBC). These lighting controls save customers money from the very first month of use.
The VB400 lighting control system is meant to replace outdated, inefficient, uncontrolled high-bay and low-bay HID lighting fixtures. The Vari-Ballast Control (VBC) enables the use of T5 and T8 fluorescent ballasts.
These lighting controls save money by reducing the number of HID lamps and fixtures by 25 to 33 percent, while allowing greater control of the lighting brightness and efficiency. For example, a 150,000-square-foot building fitted with 671 HID fixtures and magnetic ballasts with a 12-foot spacing consumes almost 270,000 KWh per year at $0.11 per KWh, which costs close to $290,000 a year or nearly $24,000 a month. Retrofitting the entire floor with fluorescent fixtures with the same 12-foot spacing costs roughly $500,000. But the same building fitted with the VB400 system would reduce the number of fixtures to 400 with 20-foot spacing due to increased efficacy. This would reduce the yearly lighting energy costs to about $91,000 per year or $7,500 a month?a savings of more than 60 percent. And this can be achieved without sacrificing any brightness.
