Crown opens three sales sites in South Carolina

Facilities formerly operated by Carolina Material Handling Services will support Crown forklifts, firm says.

By DC Velocity Staff

Material handling equipment provider Crown Equipment Corp. said Tuesday it has opened three new sales and service locations throughout South Carolina to support growing demand in the region for the company's forklifts.

New Bremen, Ohio-based Crown said the locations had formerly operated as Carolina Material Handling Services, and would continue to be staffed by those employees. However, Crown did not specify whether it had acquired the facilities from that firm.

Carolina Material Handling Services' website says it is a supplier of new Crown and Unicarriers forklifts, used forklifts, and forklift parts, service, and rentals.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed. Contacted for clarification, Crown declined to provide any further details.

The facilities, which are located in or near the cities of Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston, S.C., will provide a selection of material handling technologies, products, and services, including forklifts, warehouse design solutions, parts and services, automated warehouse solutions, and Crown's fleet and operator management system, as well as training programs for forklift operators, supervisors, trainers, and pedestrians, Crown said.
