Robotics is taking the supply chain by storm. The usage of robots in the supply chain continues to increase as the labor market shrinks, or in some geographical areas, labor is captured by large distributors that can afford to pay what the market will bear, and then some.
If Robotics is a given in the new supply chain how then does a distributor bring robotics into their operation quickly and efficiently? The answer is Systems Integration. Robots must be provided very discrete tasks to perform work. This requires that larger ERP data sets are broken down into discrete tasks by functional area. These tasks are then fed to robots in real time to be carried out. System Integration is the key to achieving demonstrable return on investment from a robotics platform.
