Keeping track in the warehouse

By DC Velocity Staff

An optical positioning sensor system as well as RFID and height sensors on trucks can bring extremely accurate truck tracking to a warehouse, said Sarah Brisbin, vice president, marketing for Sky-Trax Inc. The concept involves tracking both manned and automatic vehicles in a warehouse using optical sensors on vehicles and optical scanners in the building's ceiling. The idea is to let drivers focus on vertical material handling, while more and more of the horizontal tasks are automated. Drivers like the system because it frees them to do their work with fewer interruptions, Brisbin said.
