Industrial robotics company Seegrid Corp. debuted the GC4 standup counterbalanced robotic forklift at MODEX 2012 today. The forklift is outfitted with Seegrid's proprietary navigation system for movement without human operation. The vision-guided robotic forklift can move pallets or cases within the warehouse. The lift truck allows for both manual and automatic operation. "[Robotic forklifts] are lower cost than the standard [automated guided vehicle] systems," says David Nobel, Seegrid's director of sales and marketing. "It's an affordable robotic truck with a rapid payback."
In addition to the lift truck, Seegrid also introduced Seegrid View, a location-tracking device that attaches to a forklift. Seegrid View automatically records current forklift utilization and productivity. The reports generated by Seegrid View give logistics managers the data to increase warehouse optimization and efficiency, Nobel said.
