FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Northeast Cargo Symposium to focus on today's hot topics in trade and transportation

The Coalition of New England Companies for Trade (CONECT) will present its 18th Annual Northeast Cargo Symposium (NECS) on November 6, 2019, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Graduate Hotel in Providence, R.I. With a theme of "How Trade Disputes Are Changing the Logistics World," attendees are sure to gain valuable, real-world information from industry experts, policymakers, and their peers.

The full-day program will include an update on trade-related developments in Washington by CONECT's Washington Counsel, Peter Friedmann, and a keynote presentation on the current state and future prospects for U.S.-China trade negotiations by one of Washington's most seasoned China trade experts, Amy P. Celico, Principal of Albright Stonebridge Group, the global strategy firm founded and led by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright. Few people are better positioned to speak on those topics: Her previous positions include Senior Director for China Affairs at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative; Deputy Director of the Office of the Chinese Economic Area at the U.S. Department of Commerce; and Vice Consul for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai, among others.

Other sessions will focus on the challenges and impact of shifting sourcing from China to alternative locations; what's new in transportation technology and how it will change transportation operations; how U.S. seaports are competing for shippers' future business; and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) initiatives and their impact on importers.

The full-day program will also include an update on trade-related developments in Washington by CONECT's Washington Counsel, Peter Friedmann.

In addition to Celico and Friedmann, confirmed speakers include:
