Canadian parcel delivery and logistics company Purloator opened a state-of-the-art terminal in Toronto this week, just in time for the busy holiday season and the processing of an anticipated 35 million packages, company leaders said.
The opening is part of a larger expansion effort that includes opening four other locations across Canada, hiring 1,000 employees to handle peak season volume, adding 300 vehicles to its fleet, and expanding its network of consumer access points across Canada, company leaders also said.
Purolator said it expects to process more than five million packages the week of Cyber Monday and more than 35 million leading up to the holiday season. The firm processed more than a quarter billion packages in 2018 and said it will deliver even more this year. The company is extending its regular delivery operations in the evening and on weekends during November and December to meet demand, officials said.
