Logistics software provider FourKites Inc. today announced a partnership with containerized maritime shipment tracking firm Ocean Insights that will allow the two companies to offer domestic and international logistics professionals true end-to-end visibility, from global seaports to final destinations worldwide, they said.
Chicago-based FourKites will integrate its real-time visibility platform with Germany-based Ocean Insights' ocean freight tracking data. That container visibility combination will let import and export teams rely on a single system for door-to-door tracking, management of detention and demurrage costs, and improvement of operational performance, FourKites said.
"This partnership gives FourKites and Ocean Insights customers powerful new capabilities to track cargo and notify downstream supply chain stakeholders of potential delivery disruptions," Mathew Elenjickal, CEO of FourKites, said in a release. "Now, supply chain professionals can better manage their operations and unlock value through a single, consistent visibility platform, regardless of international and domestic responsibilities."
The deal is FourKites' latest move since landing $50 million in venture funding in February, and saying it planned to use the backing to expand its supply chain platform with new applications and capabilities; grow its global network of top shippers and carriers; and extend its "zero deadhead" initiative to help shippers share unused truck capacity.
