Aldata, a creator of retail and distribution improvement software, has upgraded its category optimization software to provide new insights, modeling, and shelf- and store-management features.
Aldata Category Optimization is designed to support each step in the category management process, according to the developer. New features in Aldata Category Management 2012 include: a new dashboard-style interface, the ability to determine cannibalization by stock-keeping unit (SKU), planogram automation, and macro store analysis capabilities.
The new dashboard-style interface to Aldata's Category Insights program enables users review their data and then identify opportunities for sales growth, profitability, and distribution gaps. The dashboards can be customized for individual users, allowing for role-specific management of data.
The new Range Manager module helps retailers and manufacturers analyze their existing SKU assortment. With Aldata Range Manager, users can better rationalize their SKUs and determine whether specific products are cannibalizing existing items or driving incremental growth to the category.
The software's enhanced planogram automation capabilities help customers to create cluster- or store-specific category plans. Planners can take strategic assortment data from Range Manager and then cluster stores by geography, demographics, physical size, or fixtures. Planograms can then be generated and applied to multiple stores with similar attributes or created specifically for unique locations.
Finally, the Store Planning solution helps customers modeling to optimize department and category performance, align layouts to company strategy, and highlight performance differences between multiple stores.
