International express services provider DHL has launched a new, additional round-the-world flight connecting Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Leipzig.
This route will improve transit times between many parts of Asia and Western U.S. and Canada, says DHL. The new flight will include a greater number of Asian origin locations, including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Manila. A number of cities in China will now have next-day connection into Los Angeles and much of Western United States and Canada.
The flight also includes a new direct connection from Los Angeles to DHL's European air hub in Leipzig, Germany. As a result, customers in California will be able to order a pickup from a DHL courier up to three hours later for their European shipments.
DHL will use three Boeing 777F freighters for this new route. These planes will provide additional capacity, reliability, and fuel efficiency, says DHL. The B777F freighter is expected to burn around 20 to 25 percent less fuel and has a superior max payload range on intercontinental routes, allowing more markets to be served nonstop.
