Psion has launched a new rugged handheld device for mobile workers, the Omnii RT15. This device can be used for field service, delivery, field data collection, and transportation applications.
The device has a modular design and a range of imaging and laser scanners from multiple vendors. Wireless capabilities include 3.8G HSPA+, 2G EDGE, Bluetooth, and 802.11a/b/g/n. A high-capacity battery and new architecture enable a continuous run time of 20 hours (including scanning and wireless usage), says the company.
The RT15 features a "clipboard inspired" stylus and a vehicle cradle for installation in transport trucks and delivery vans. The RT15 has a rugged design. It is certified for IP65 with a drop rating of 1.8 meters.
The Psion Omnii RT15 is now available to order in all major U.S. and European territories. List prices start at $1,899. The new device is also part of Psion's Omnii Advantage program, which allows customers to upgrade one of the main modules after one full year of ownership.
