Carrier Transicold has announced that AeroFlex trailer side fairings are now available through its North American dealer network. Developed by Freight Wing Inc., the fairings offer a boost to fuel economy.
Available for standard as well as refrigerated trailers, AeroFlex fairings are made of an impact-resistant flexible TPO (thermoplastic olefin) plastic that is UV-stabilized for prolonged outdoor use. The flexibility of the material combined with the units' 180-degree top hinge allow the low-clearance fairings to flex and withstand both side and bottom impacts.
Weighing only 160 pounds, AeroFlex fairings can be installed in a 5-degree angled configuration. This wedge configuration efficiently diverts airflow along the side of the trailer, away from drag-inducing rear wheels, axle components, and cross members. Designed for ease of installation, the fairings can also be modified to accommodate under-trailer fuel tanks in refrigerated trailer installations.
