The new SK4000 Structural Tubular Pallet Rack by Steel King combines the load capacity of structural channel racks with the torsional strength of tubular steel. These racks are suitable for storage applications involving heavy loads, seismic locations, rack-supported buildings, and increased vertical heights, such as automatic storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS).
Unlike conventional racks, which offer load capacities in the 30,000-pound range, the SK4000 Structural Tubular Pallet Rack with bolted-beam connections has the frame strength to support loads of over 70,000 pounds. Thick structural tube steel increases the frames' load-carrying capacity and resistance to seismic forces while providing greater resistance to fork-truck impact damage.
All SK4000 columns are tubular members of A-500 grade "B" steel. To meet the installation requirements, the product is available in standard column sizes of 3 by 3 inches, 4 by 3 inches, and 4 by 4 inches with thicknesses of 1/8 or 3/16 of an inch.
For added strength and stability, its uprights incorporate fully welded tubular steel for both horizontal and diagonal bracing. Beams are securely fastened to uprights using heavy-duty grade 5 hardware. Additionally, beam connection holes are drilled on the column's sides, not the corners, minimizing column strength loss. Standard column punching on the storage rack provides users with the flexibility to adjust beam elevations in 3-inch increments. The columns may also include holes for beam locations throughout the entire rack height, holes limited to just the locations used, or anything in between. A user can also create a rack system with no exposed holes in the columns, making it suitable for use in industries like food and pharmaceuticals that need a more sanitary storage option.
A highly durable, powder coat paint finish on the pallet rack offers gloss, hardness, and adhesion for greater resistance to forktruck impact, solvents, and corrosion. A choice of 12 standard colors allows color-coding of the storage racks by use or for aesthetics. An optional galvanized finish is also available to meet USDA requirements.
