SR61ex handheld cordless scanner

November 1, 2007
No Comments

Intermec has begun shipping its new SR61ex, a handheld cordless scanner that is integrated with its proprietary Intellibeam EX25 near/far area imaging technology. The SR61ex has autofocus capabilities that allow it to read any kind of bar code from near or far. This enables customers to improve warehouse productivity, consolidate devices, and reduce total cost of ownership.

When paired with a vehicle-mount computer such as the Intermec CV30 or CV60, the SR61ex can read one-dimensional, two-dimensional, composite, and postal codes, in any orientation, from six inches to 50 feet away. Operators can seamlessly transition from scanning an object in their hands, to scanning a pallet high up on a rack, to capturing an image. Tightly integrated Bluetooth wireless communication ensures smooth data transmission to the host computer.

Additional benefits of the SR61ex include omnidirectional scanning, improved reads at low angles, better reads in low-light conditions, and an ability to read damaged or obscured codes, including bar codes covered in plastic wrap. The SR61ex is sealed against dirt and water and comes equipped with a long-lasting lithium battery that delivers more than 10 hours of use.

In the logistics industry, the task of quantifying cost increases from parcel and LTL carriers is becoming more complicated. We don’t expect this trend to end anytime soon, as these companies look for ways to use greater precision in their pricing by drawing on the greater amount of data available.
