Supra 950 truck refrigeration unit

August 1, 2007
No Comments

The Supra 950 truck refrigeration unit has the highest output of any truck unit made by Carrier Transicold. Not only does it have a high cooling capacity, but its sound output is significantly lower than earlier models. This new diesel-powered unit is suited for frozen applications, such as ice cream. It also works well for the leasing industry, where the varying demand on rental trucks requires a refrigeration unit with the highest capacity. At 100 degrees F ambient temperature and its set point at 35 degrees F, the Supra 950 has a cooling capacity of 32,000 BTUs.

The Supra 950 unit's exterior is made of a composite material that is lightweight, damage-resistant, and easy to clean. It features a new skin package that offers a contemporary appearance. The unit is acoustically engineered to significantly reduce sound output. An all-composite bottom panel seals against the housing, helping to buffer and redirect engine noise. Carrier Transicold says it has also improved the unit for easier maintenance and service access.

The Supra 950 unit uses a 1.1-liter CT3-69 TriVortex diesel engine and a 6-cylinder compressor. The large engine and compressor deliver high-capacity refrigeration while running at relatively low speeds, reducing wear and tear on the mechanical system and conserving fuel. For even greater fuel savings, the Supra 950 unit can be optionally equipped with an electric standby motor that also helps reduce noise and eliminate exhaust emissions at the loading dock.
