Carousel System

Schaefer's Carousel System (SCS) offers high-performance picking of 1,000 automated order picks per hour while providing more storage. The system brings products directly to the worker, eliminating travel time and reducing labor requirements. In its standard version, the SCS module consists of four carousels with up to 6,000 bin locations. These can supply up to four picking workstations. The system is offered with bins manufactured by Schaefer, which can be partitioned into a maximum of 16 different compartments with a load capacity of 50 pounds each. The bins are served by fully automated lifts with load carrying devices. In vertical and/or horizontal loops, they retrieve the bins from their storage locations in four aisles and transfer them to an integrated conveyor, which takes the bins to the order picking positions. Due to the efficient design of the lifts, the power demand is 20 percent of that used for conventional small parts storage systems.
