Intelligent Trade Lane supply chain solution

IBM and Maersk Logistics have teamed up to provide a new global supply chain solution that can improve cross-border security. Intelligent Trade Lane addresses three critical challenges: security, shipment visibility and data standardization. It allows ocean carriers, manufacturers, retailers and governments to share reliable, real-time cargo shipment information worldwide. The software solution incorporates intelligent real-time tracking devices known as TRECs (tamper-resistant embedded controllers) and a global data network to store and provide information to all supply chain partners in near-real time. Unlike passive tags that collect data only, the wireless TREC devices incorporate significant processing power that enables them to instantly receive and send critical data, including location, temperature, humidity, and sensory readings to detect intrusion. The data are linked to a fully integrated network that gives accredited supply chain participants access to relevant data.
