Glacier Computer, a company that specializes in rugged industrial PC-compatible devices, has introduced the GL 800 mobile handheld computer. The GL 800 is designed for inventory management in warehouses and distribution centers and for other industrial applications that require high performance and durability.
The GL 800 combines the flexibility of Windows CE .Net with the power of the Intel XScale processor. It also features Cisco wireless technology, a large color display, and laser (1D) and imaging (1D and 2D) scanning in a rugged programmable data terminal (PDT). Designed to handle demanding data collection tasks, the GL 800 can withstand five-foot drops to concrete.
The GL 800 is suitable for scan-intensive warehouse and distribution applications for inventory management, cross-docking, receiving, put-away, picking and shipping. Optional accessories include docks, forklift-mounting options, spare batteries and holsters.
The GL 800 is available with either a 26-key alphanumeric keypad for preliminary numeric keypad data entry or a 48-key or 52-key full alpha keypad for numeric and text data entry. The 52-key option is also available as a 5250 Terminal Emulation keypad with specific keys.
