Carrier Transicold's ComfortPro Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) offers the trucking industry a way to cut idling time, reduce fuel consumption and enjoy comfort on the road. In a typical application, the ComfortPro APU can reduce idling by up to 90 percent, saving thousands of dollars annually in fuel costs, while reducing emissions, engine wear and associated maintenance costs.
The ComfortPro APU fea tures an all-electric architecture that provides for both air conditioning and heating for the sleeper cab; 110/120-volt AC household current to run appliances, computers, and such; and unique Winterwatch protection to keep the engine warm when the cabin is not occupied.
Unlike other systems, Comfortpro does not draw power from the truck's battery. It directly powers its cooling and heating system and all household appliances through its 4,000-watt generator, which is driven by the unit's Kubota diesel engine.
The ComfortPro APU features an easy-to-use multi-function control module with a backlit digital display that mounts inside the sleeper cab. The APU is housed in a weather-tight, shock-resistant case that mounts on the truck chassis using up to 25 percent less frame rail space than other APUs.
