Three Women Promoted to Management Roles at Choptank Transport

PRESTON, MD - July 16, 2019, Choptank Transport, headquartered in Preston, Maryland, is one of Caroline County's largest employers with more than 350 employees and five regional offices. Choptank is part of a $700 billion nationwide trucking and transportation industry that arranges the movement of freight for products that needs to go from one destination to another.
Logistics used to have the reputation of being a male-dominated field, but today, this lingering misconception couldn't be farther from the truth. Organizations like Women in Trucking, and the American Trucking Association (ATA) have plenty of female presidents, vice presidents, directors, and leaders. The U.S. Department of Transportation has a program, Women & Girls in Transportation Initiative, (WITI) that places qualified female students in transportation internships.
Choptank Transport has recently promoted several employees into new management roles in the last several months.

Charlene Keller: Charlene was hired as a sales representative for Choptank in 2006 after a successful career at one of the largest poultry producers in the country, Perdue Farms, in Salisbury, Maryland. When Charlene joined Choptank, the company had less than two dozen employees. Armed with strong sales skills from Perdue, Charlene quickly took on a supervisory role managing the larger, national accounts. She soon became the face of Choptank by joining industry advisory boards and attending relevant trade shows throughout the year. Last month, Charlene earned another promotion as senior director of enterprise accounts, a position that focuses on strategic, repeat business from the country's largest manufacturers and retailers.
Robin Tull: Robin came to work at Choptank in 2008 after a successful career at Allen Family Foods where she worked as a senior sales representative for eight years, and a transportation and distribution manager for thirteen years. She began at Choptank as a logistics coordinator and quickly advanced to the position of team lead, overseeing six to eight logistics coordinators. In 2014, Robin was promoted again, with a new role to oversee and grow the company's intermodal department, coordinating sales and shipments of rail services. Just this year, Robin's title has changed to senior manager of specialized logistics, a position that includes a much broader scope of responsibilities including intermodal, dry less-than-truckload, port and drayage, hazmat and government contract shipments.
Jennifer Daniels: Jennifer began working at Choptank in 2012 after five years as a high school algebra and finance teacher. She started as a sales representative and soon earned a position as an account executive. In 2016, Jennifer was promoted to the role of area sales manager, supervising a team of sales representatives. It was announced last week that Jennifer has accepted the position of associate director of sales and is now in charge of managing ten in-house salespeople as well as mentoring the sales managers in two regional offices, Tampa and Dallas.
Choptank Transport continues to grow in Preston and in its regional locations, including Baltimore, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, and Tampa.
