Buffy, bedding industry innovator, launches bi-coastal fulfillment with Boxzooka

New York, NY - Buffy, considered by many to be the Warby Parker of the bedding industry, is redefining the comforter industry. Buffy has selected Boxzooka as their designated 3PL fulfillment and warehouse management systems provider.

"Buffy is recreating a niche within the bedding industry," said Brendan Heegan, Founder of Boxzooka based in Secaucus, New Jersey. "Buffy is not just creating a new comforter, they're creating a new segment with sustainable luxury products in the bedding industry. From our standpoint, they are the hottest new online retail company out there today."

Buffy launched online sales in December 2017 and quickly outgrew the capabilities of their initial west coast-based fulfillment solution. With Buffy's desire to add a main fulfillment operation on the East Coast while maintaining their West Coast presence, Boxzooka offered a unique solution to take over operating the larger portion of fulfillment distribution from their New Jersey headquarters and deploy their enterprise cloud-based WMS (warehouse management system) to run Buffy's operation in San Francisco.

The solution allows the now multi-origin Buffy fulfillment operation to further scale seamlessly on a single platform.

"We chose Boxzooka because they are positioned as a tech company that happens to be a 3PL," said Jordan Bloom, Buffy's director of operations. "In short, they understand the startup and tech world, and their WMS is very user-friendly."

Bloom says Boxzooka's insights and infrastructure provide a path for Buffy to further expand fulfillment operations into other strategic U.S. origin points, as well as shipping to international destinations in the future.

"Through Boxzooka, we've been able to scale operations and get product to customers as quickly as possible, reaching most of the country in just a few business days" Bloom said.

About Buffy:

Buffy produces silk-soft, 300-thread count comforters made from cruelty free and environmentally friendly materials. The company has committed the last 25 years to satisfying its customers with high comfort and low environmental impact. Buffy comforters are made up of organic eucalyptus fibers, which are "milled in a zero-footprint, Oeko-tex certified environment in Austria." These textiles require ten times less water than cotton for annual comforter production in America. These fibers are hypoallergenic and more cooling than the cotton of typical comforters.

Buffy substitutes its own recycled microfiber, made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate, for down. Down is a product resulting from live-plucking of ducks or geese, who are then typically slaughtered. Buffy uses recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles are the source of filling for its comforters. This down replacement is finely woven, making it a lighter and softer option.
