Sealed Air Corp. introduced a brand-new version of its Instapak foam cushion system that is specifically designed for lower-volume users. The Instapak Simple is lightweight, takes up little space, and requires minimal maintenance, making it ideal for operations producing less than 25 packs a day, the company says.
It is small enough to mount on a cart, so users can easily move the Instapak Simple system to multiple packaging stations within a production facility. Instead of the 55-gallon containers of liquid that are standard for the large-volume Instapak systems, small users can purchase containers as small as 2.5 gallons. Additionally, the compact component containers, which are made of HDPE plastics, are fully recyclable.
The Instapak Simple system produces foam cushions without the heated hoses, pumps, external controls, and containers required in most traditional systems. As a result, the system is able to run at household voltage electrical levels, so it can plug in anywhere without the need for elevated power capacities.
The Instapak Simple will be commercially available in July. It is expected to be priced at about $3,000.
