UPS company and third-party logistics (3PL) provider Coyote Logistics will open a "Tech Hub" in Detroit later this year, the company said.
Coyote's Tech Hub will be located in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood and is slated to open sometime in the third quarter of 2019, the company said. The hub will be the anchor tenant in The Assembly, a former warehouse turned five-story, multi-use property by Detroit real estatement development firm Bedrock.
Coyote will occupy the second and third floors of the building—a total of 58,000 square feet—and will employ 500 people, the company said.
"Detroit's growing reputation as the Midwest's hub for technology and innovation was a huge draw as we looked to expand Coyote's operations," company Vice President John Perkovich said in a prepared statement. "As we continue to raise the bar in the logistics industry, we are proud to be doing so alongside so many other companies in Detroit who are leaders in their industries."
