J.B. Hunt integrates its freight matching platform with Project44

Added data connectivity tools will expand capabilities of J.B. Hunt 360, firm says.

Truckload, logistics, and intermodal company J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. will link its freight matching marketplace with data connectivity tools from software vendor Project44, saying Tuesday that the integration will provide improved visibility over shipments in transit.

The Lowell, Ark.-based company will integrate Chicago-based Project44's advanced visibility platform into its J.B. Hunt 360 tool to provide customers with real-time, seamless access to shipment information regardless of carrier, eliminating the need for multiple carrier data integrations, J.B. Hunt said.

The J.B. Hunt 360 product offers businesses and carriers tools like a freight matching marketplace, supply chain operations visibility, and business automation features, the firm says.

The new collaboration also will allow J.B. Hunt to expand the capabilities and service offerings of its technology platform, the firm said. In August, the company launched a rewards program for third-party carriers and their drivers through Carrier 360 by J.B. Hunt, the digital component of J.B. Hunt 360 designed to help carriers save money, spend more time driving, and have an overall better experience, according to the company.

"The challenges our customers are facing today require greater visibility into their transportation network," Shelley Simpson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of J.B. Hunt, said in a release. "By integrating Project44 technology within J.B. Hunt 360, customers can view and manage multi-carrier freight from a single platform, helping them streamline operations and meet their supply chain goals."

Federal regulators delay pharma track and trace rule

Pharmaceutical groups are breathing a sigh of relief today after federal regulators granted many of them more time to come into compliance with strict track and trace rules required by the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).

The initiative is intended to create an electronic track and trace network that allows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to pinpoint the location of any drug throughout the supply chain and drill down to the individual package level, thus improving safety compliance and reducing counterfeiting. To enable that practice, third-party companies like TraceLink have built networks to manage the massive amounts of data required.
