Logistics and cold storage firms Lineage Logistics, LLC and Dreisbach Enterprises have opened Lineage Cool Port Oakland in California, the companies said November 1.
Set on 25 acres at the Port of Oakland's waterfront, Cool Port is the newest hub for temperature-controlled cargo going through Northern California, the companies said. The facility is a collaboration between Irvine, CA-based Lineage and Oakland, CA-based Dreisbach, with additional funding from the Port of Oakland and the state of California.
Cool Port Oakland provides temperature-controlled storage and logistics for companies transporting perishable foods internationally. The 280,000-square-foot facility with 90 truck dock doors can send up to a million tons of perishable product through the Port of Oakland annually, the companies said, speeding transit times for companies exporting to Asia.
"Cool Port is a game-changer for global trade and the local economy," Jason Dreisbach, president of Dreisbach Enterprises said in a statement announcing the opening of the facility. "We'll more efficiently connect U.S. producers to Asian markets and in the process create hundreds of jobs in our own backyard."
The cold-chain compliant facility provides a range of services, including rail transload and truck cross-dock operations, frozen and refrigerated storage, import-export services, and onsite U.S. Department of Agriculture inspection and labeling capabilities, the companies said.
