MercuryGate combines fleet and freight management tools

MercuryFleet product provides single portal for managing drivers, equipment, and operations, company says.

Logistics technology and transportation management system (TMS) provider MercuryGate International Inc. said today it has released a software platform that combines fleet and freight management for all transport modes and the third-party logistics (3PL) providers that utilize all modes of transportation.

The product, known as "MercuryFleet," combines the management of drivers, equipment, and operations into one technology, thus replacing disparate systems with a unified platform, Todd Bucher, MercuryGate's vice president, fleet, said in a statement.

"There are many problems associated with disconnected systems or using spreadsheets to manage data, but the worst scenario is that a company has a service failure to a customer because they did not have full and current knowledge of every aspect of their operation, including drivers and equipment," said Bucher.

The system also allows managers to analyze driver performance by applying the same algorithms used by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA's) Safety Management System (SMS), according to MercuryGate. "With ongoing changes and complexity in both driver and equipment regulations and increased demands to improve service while reducing transportation costs, supply chain managers need solutions designed to address all of their needs proactively and quickly," said Bucher.
