Supply chain management software firm Tecsys Inc. today said it would partner with Ryder System Inc. to improve visibility over shipments of medical and surgical supplies in the health systems sector.
Montreal-based Tecsys said it would fuse its software technology with supply chain solutions from Miami-based Ryder, a fleet management and transportation service provider. Working together, the companies will help health systems providers to make their supply chain operations more transparent and efficient, Tecsys said.
The solution will cover all stages of the healthcare supply chain, from purchasing and manufacturing to distributing the supplies throughout each hospital network's integrated delivery network (IDN), according to Tecsys. Many hospital groups use IDNs as specialized third-party logistics providers (3PLs) to manage tasks including the planning, buying, stock keeping, warehousing, and distribution of supplies, the company said.
Improving that process could allow clinicians in hospitals and health clinics to dedicate more of their time to patient care, while letting Tecsys' health-system-specific software ensure the efficient, timely delivery of supplies, the company said.
"The healthcare industry is one with some of the most time-sensitive needs, which is why it's so important to work with a supply chain management software company like Tecsys that can ensure patients' needs are always met," Norm Brouillette, vice president and general manager for Ryder Supply Chain Solutions, said in a statement.
