Third-party logistics (3PL) provider AFN Logistics LLC has acquired Columbus, Ohio-based less-than-truckload (LTL) company HA Advantage and its supply chain software platform. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Niles, Ill.-based AFN made the move to capitalize on the e-commerce boom, as retailers are pushing smaller loads at increased velocity into distribution centers and through their networks to keep pace with the changing demands of online sales and e-commerce fulfillment, the company said.
Formed as a truckload carrier serving the retail industry, AFN has added LTL services and expanded into food and beverage, manufacturing, and other verticals, said Brian Winshall, AFN's executive vice president. The HA Advantage acquisition allows AFN to use HA proprietary TMS to offer customers improved supply chain visibility, shipping efficiency, and business intelligence, Winshall said.
AFN will also gain HA's client list and add eight of its employees to AFN's existing technology team providing solution engineering and business intelligence, said Winshall. HA Advantage was previously a division of Pleasanton, Calif.-based HA Logistics Inc.
