There's still time to plan a trip to balmy Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for the 103rd meeting of the National Industrial Transportation League and concurrent TransComp exhibition. Scheduled for Nov. 13 through 16 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, the conference will bring shippers, carriers, and third-party logistics companies together to learn about current developments affecting freight transportation. There will be something for just about everyone: The event also encompasses the annual meeting of the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) and the fall meeting of the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA).
Thought-provoking session topics include the impact of the CSA 2010 driver safety regulations on intermodal transportation; ocean contracting essentials; and combating cargo theft. Also on the agenda is a discussion by CEOs of a railroad, a motor carrier, and an ocean carrier of today's top issues. The closing speaker will be Apollo 13 Commander Capt. James Lovell Jr.; NITL members will also be eligible to attend a lunch meeting with Surface Transportation Board Chairman Daniel R. Elliott III.
In addition to its usual array of transportation, logistics, and technology exhibitors, this year's TransComp exhibition will feature an air-cargo pavilion. The pavilion, organized by the Express Delivery and Logistics Association, will spotlight major air-freight expediters and carriers.
