You can't stress forklift safety too much, and thanks to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), warehouse and DC managers now have one more source of safety information they can share with lift-truck drivers.

OSHA's new "eTool" is an online review of the agency's powered industrial truck safety requirements. The easy-to-follow guide includes four segments:

• Types and Fundamentals: The differing types and fundamentals of powered trucks
• Operating the Forklift: The basic operating rules and safe work practices
• Understanding the Workplace: How workplace conditions can affect safe operation
• Training Assistance: Operator training required by OSHA

OSHA emphasizes that its "eTool" is intended to provide information about its powered industrial truck safety standards, and that it is not a substitute for a formal operator training program. The guide is available online at www.osha.gov/dcsp/products/etools/pit.
