There's a good reason why the top-flight coverage of defense logistics contributed to DC VELOCITY by Editor at Large Steve Geary is such a compelling read: He reports with the authority that comes from personal experience. From 2006 through late 2007, he was part of a U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) task force led by Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Paul Brinkley that was charged with promoting stability and security in Iraq by stimulating economic growth and employment.
This work put Geary "in country" for months at a time, traveling to and working in what The Wall Street Journal has characterized as "the most dangerous places in Iraq." Recently his efforts and contributions were recognized by the DOD.
Geary and several other members of his task force were the guests of honor at a Pentagon ceremony hosted by Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England, the second-highest ranking official in the DOD. The award reads: "For selfless service to our Nation and the People of Iraq in support of the Task Force to Improve Business and Stability Operations in Iraq."
