Black gold. The International Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA) has awarded the 2007 Ptak Prize for Supply Chain Excellence to Indian Oil Corp., India's state-owned oil company, and Honeywell International. Honeywell developed a supply chain solution for Indian Oil that allowed the company to take a global—instead of a local—view of its organization. This perspective has enabled Indian Oil Corp. to be more competitive.
A Crowning achievement. Crown Equipment Corp. has recognized two long-time members of its distribution network with its James F. Dicke Pioneer Award. The honor was presented to Gary and Joan Thompson, dealer principals for OKI Systems. OKI has distribution operations in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Two other distributors were also recognized for their performance as top dealers: Lift Stak & Stor in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., and Crown Lift Trucks in LaGrange, Ill.
In memoriam. The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association has named the late Mike Russell as its 2007 Marketing Executive of the Year. Russell was the vice president for public affairs and press secretary for the American Trucking Associations. The award was presented posthumously to Russell, who died last year in a whitewater rafting accident.
