Did you know that warehouse workers on second and third shifts typically receive 30 to 50 cents more per hour than firstshift employees? Information like this can be found in the annual salary and wage report just released by the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC). The 2004 edition of Warehousing Salaries & Wages contains a breakdown of the average wages for various positions in the distribution industry as well as key data for use in benchmarking your facility's operations.
The 142-page report also reveals that most employers provided pay increases across the board this past year, despite the disappointing economic environment. It also details many other aspects of pay and bonus programs and has been expanded to include new information on 15 critical warehouse- related positions.
To obtain a copy of this year's report, call WERC at (630) 990-0001 or visit its Web site at www.werc.org. The report costs $50 for WERC members and $100 for non-members.
