Locus Robotics hires DHL executive to lead European operations

Niezgoda to be based in Germany to manage firm's "aggressive expansion."

By DC Velocity Staff

Warehouse automation provider Locus Robotics is expanding its footprint in Europe, announcing new customers and hiring a DHL executive to lead the division, the firm said today.

The move follows news in April that Wilmington, Massachusetts-based Locus planned to scale up production of its autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) after landing $26 million in venture funding.

Locus now says it has hired Denis Niezgoda as Director of Business Development, European Union (EU) to lead its European operations and initiatives. Before joining Locus, Niezgoda served as Robotics Accelerator Lead at DHL Customer Solutions and Innovation, responsible for identifying and implementing new technologies to drive innovation within DHL.

Niezgoda will continue to develop Locus's portfolio within the EU market, while also expanding and developing Locus's existing customer initiatives, the firm said. He is expected to be based in Bonn, Germany, while traveling extensively throughout the region.

Locus says it currently has its first three EU customer deployments underway with retail/e-tail, third party logistics (3PL), and industrial specialty customers, including a global pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution network and a global sports apparel manufacturer. "Our recent expansion throughout the UK and EU markets with our CE certified solution has seen us add several new major 3PL and retail customers. We are thrilled to have Denis join our global team as we continue aggressive expansion across these growing markets," Locus CEO Rick Faulk said in a release.
