Transportation and third party logistics (3PL) provider C.H. Robinson said today it has acquired the Italian road transportation provider Dema Service S.p.A., buying its second overseas company in recent weeks as part of an effort to expand its global presence.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Eden Prairie, Minn.-based C.H. Robinson said the acquisition further strengthens its European business footprint. The company will integrate Dema Service into its European Surface Transportation division and its Navisphere global technology platform.
In March, C.H. Robinson paid $48 million to buy The Space Cargo Group, which provides international freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and other logistics services in Spain and Colombia.
Dema Service is a privately-owned logistics company providing road transportation services across Europe. Headquartered in Pescara, Italy—located on the country's eastern coast, along the Adriatic Sea—Dema Service has approximately 100 employees and operates three offices, in Italy, Poland, and Czech Republic.
"We are excited to join C.H. Robinson, one of the world's largest third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and contribute to the company's strong presence in Europe," Dema Service Co-Founder Mauro de Lellis said in a release. "Our extensive local market knowledge in combination with C.H. Robinson's global network will allow us to provide world-class service to customers."
