Freight technology vendor and third party logistics provider (3PL) GlobalTranz Enterprises Inc. has opened up its checkbook again, announcing today that it has made its ninth acquisition since January of 2017 with the purchase of Circle 8 Logistics, a provider of third-party multimodal transportation and logistics services.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Phoenix, Ariz.-based GlobalTranz had most recently acquired Our Freight Guy, a freight brokerage and logistics company, in January. That purchase followed GlobalTranz' own 2018 acquisition by the private equity firm The Jordan Co. L.P.
Buying Lombard, Ill.-based Circle 8 will help GlobalTranz to expand its presence in the Chicago area, gaining greater access to the area's logistics talent pool, the company said. "Circle 8 has a strong history of providing its customers with superior services and logistics solutions," GlobalTranz CEO Renee Krug said in a statement. "Circle 8 has combined a focus on people, processes and technology to drive growth via unique solutions for its customers and strong carrier partnerships. The combination will further accelerate our growth and market leadership in the 3PL industry."
GlobalTranz calls itself the 10th-largest freight brokerage in the U.S., and says it provides technology and third-party logistics solutions, as well as a cloud-based, multi-modal transportation management system (TMS) product for shippers, carriers, 3PLs and brokers.
