FedEx names Subramaniam president and COO

Raj Subramaniam will replace the retiring David Bronczek, effective March 1.

Raj Subramaniam will take over as president and chief operating officer of FedEx Corp. on March 1, the company said this week. He succeeds David J. Bronczek, who will retire as president and COO and from the company's Board of Directors, FedEx said.

The move follows Subramaniam's January 1 promotion to president and CEO of FedEx Express, a position he will retain; he also will serve as co-president and co-CEO of FedEx Services, the Memphis-based transportation and logistics provider said.

Subramaniam has been with FedEx for more than 27 years in various executive-level positions, according to FedEx. He began his career in Memphis and subsequently moved to Hong Kong, where he oversaw marketing and customer service for the company's Asia Pacific region. Subramaniam then took over as president of FedEx Express in Canada before returning to the United States as senior vice president of international marketing, the company said. He was then promoted to executive vice president of marketing in 2013 at FedEx Services, prior to being named executive vice president and chief marketing and communications officer at FedEx Corp. in 2017.

"On behalf of the board and management team, we recognize Dave [Bronczek] for his years of service to FedEx. FedEx has a deep bench of talent, and I am confident that the transition will be seamless," Frederick W. Smith, FedEx Corp. chairman and chief executive officer said in a statement announcing the change February 14. "Raj has significant experience in many areas of our portfolio, which will be vital as he steps into this position."
