BluJay names JDA exec to replace CEO

Braun served three years, Kirkwood brings SaaS experience, firm says.

Transportation management system (TMS) software provider BluJay Solutions has recruited a JDA Software Group Inc. executive as its new CEO, replacing former chief executive Doug Braun, the firm said today.

Holland, Mich.-based BluJay named Andrew Kirkwood as its new CEO, citing his 25 years of experience in the supply chain and software as a service (SaaS) market, including the past 14 years at RedPrairie and—after a $1.9 billion acquisition in 2012—JDA.

Braun will leave BluJay after three years in the corner office, during which he supervised the creation of BluJay through the 2016 merger of former logistics tech rivals Kewill Inc. and LeanLogistics Inc. He also guided the firm to launch a supply chain automation platform called the Global Trade Network, and arranged an integration with the real-time tracking and shipping visibility tool vendor FourKites Inc.

"Doug did an exceptional job reorganizing and rebranding the company while integrating five acquisitions over his tenure," Paul Ilse, chairman of the BluJay Board of Directors, said in a release.

In a statement, Kirkwood said he would focus on leading BluJay into its next stage of growth. "We know global trade and supply chains are battlegrounds for our customers, which means they are counting on us to help them navigate this increasingly complex world," Kirkwood said. "I will be focused on innovation, customer satisfaction, and creating a great place to work in order to drive strategic value for our customers, employees, and shareholders."
