DHL has relocated its Baltimore service center to a larger location, increasing its shipment processing capacity and allowing faster delivery service for local customers, the company said today.
At 48,667 square feet, the $2.7 million center is three times the size of its previous location and features additional administrative offices along with a larger warehouse that can handle higher volumes of inbound and outbound international shipments, DHL said.
The company moved to the larger facility as a result of double-digit growth it has seen in major U.S. markets in the last five years, according to Laurice Bancroft, general manager of the Northeast U.S. for DHL Express.
DHL signed a seven-year lease on the new service center, which it says will help DHL increase routes by more than 50 percent and process more than 3,000 shipments per hour. The center employs 60 people and is located in Hanover, MD.
