E2open acquires TMS vendor Cloud Logistics

Move builds unified supply chain platform for visibility and collaboration, E2open says.

By DC Velocity Staff

Continuing its spree of acquisitions, supply chain planning software vendor E2open Inc. said Monday it has bought the transportation management system (TMS) provider Cloud Logistics, saying the move will build a unified supply chain platform that provides visibility, collaboration, planning, and execution for a network of global trading partners.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Austin, Texas-based E2open most recently bought Zyme, a provider of a channel data management (CDM) platform that improves visibility between trading partners, the firm said. Earlier in 2017, E2open said it had merged with business process software provider Steelwedge Software Inc. and in 2016 the firm acquired Terra Technology, a provider of demand-forecasting tools.

The latest acquisition builds on E2open's existing logistics solutions, which have been extending third-party TMS applications across E2open's network with the goal of improving visibility into material moves, assessing the impact on sources and destinations, and alerting all relevant stakeholders in the multi-party processes, the company said.

By combining its transportation forecasting with West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Cloud Logistics' transportation management, E2open will also help to better assess, procure, and manage transportation capacity, according to the company.

"Combining transportation management with E2open's leading demand sensing and business planning closes the loop between planning and execution," Michael Farlekas, chief executive officer of E2open, said in a statement. "These applications running on a live end-to-end global business network allows us to continue to drive supply chain convergence for our customers - between data and algorithms, planning and execution, demand and supply, manufacturing, and distribution."
