The time is coming when supply chain managers will be as concerned with sustainability, carbon footprints, and energy efficiency as they are with inventory turns, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.
For evidence, you need look no farther than the list of Fortune 500 companies presenting at Lehigh University's Fall Symposium on "Sustainable Supply Chains: Making the Case for Going Green." At the event, which takes place Nov. 5-6, executives from Mars Snackfood, Merck, Hewlett Packard, Volvo, and Genco will provide examples of successful green initiatives that they have implemented.
The symposium, which includes a networking and student recruitment dinner, will be held on the university's campus in Bethlehem, Pa. For more information, visit www.lehigh.edu/~inchain//symposium.
