Tired of the same old scenery during your daily commute? Maybe you'd prefer pedicabs and billboards emblazoned with Han characters. If so, you're in luck. Job openings for logisticians in China are about to explode, says AMR Research analyst Lora Cecere.
By 2010, China will need an estimated 400,000 supply chain and logistics professionals. Right now, only 10,000 professionals are registered on the China Supply Chain Council's Web site. And it's unlikely its colleges and universities will be able to crank out enough graduates to make up the difference. Chinese universities produce only 10,000 logistics graduates each year.
Though some worry that a scarcity of middle managers and professional supply chain managers will limit China's future growth, at least labor won't be a problem. In China, which is home to 1.3 billion people, labor is both plentiful and cheap.
